RYA Day Skipper Course in Barcelona

In collaboration with the RYA Center MT Sail & Power we offer the RYA Day Skipper Course in Barcelona.

Day Skipper Course:

The RYA Day Skipper Practical is a course for those who are ready for more responsibility. It gives you the skills to skipper your own boat safely and confidently. Make the transition from crew to skipper while learning practical hands-on skills.

If you’re planning a flotilla holiday or bareboat charter holiday, this course is for you. It is for people who wish to confidently skipper their own boat with their friends and family on board.

In 5 days (2 weekends) you will develop the skills to skipper a cruising yacht with the guidance of our experienced instructors. Although this is a more demanding course than Competent Crew, we will make time to enjoy the sailing and a few good meals at anchorages along the way. The RYA Day Skipper Sail training course teaches boat handling, pilotage, navigation, seamanship and safety to the standard required to skipper a yacht safely.

Pre-requisites for this course: 5 days, 100 miles, 4 night hours onboard a sailing yacht, min age 16.
Assumed knowledge: Nautical Theory to the level of Day Skipper or Per equivalent. The Day Skipper Theory course is available online and in the classroom.

Day Skipper Course structure

Course content: Preparation for sea, deck work, yacht handling under power, yacht handling under sail, navigation, pilotage, meteorology, rules of the road, maintenance and repair work, engines, victualling, provisioning, emergency situations, passage making, night cruising.

Ability after the course: Have the confidence and capability to be able to skipper a small yacht by day and evening. There is no milage limitation with the license, but it is recommenced familiar coastal waters.

The RYA Day Skipper Practical photo-ID certificate, which can be used to charter a yacht in most areas of the world.

Min duration: 5 Days.
Minimum age: 16.
